As well as providing shelter from the elements, camping tarps also have a number of other uses in the outdoor environment.

-Shade: Protect yourself from the sun’s harsh ultraviolet rays with a camping tarp that is slung over the branch of a tree creating shade and keeping your camping area cooler.
-Warmth: Camping Tarps can be used as a blanket when necessary and will provide an extra layer of warmth on cold winter nights.
-Bathroom Privacy: Create an enclosed area for privacy by tieing a camping tarp around a clump of surrounding trees.

As you can see from this list, it may be useful to bring along more than one camping tarp. I’m sure you will be able to put it to good use on your camping expedition!

Vinyl and Polyethylene Tarps

Tarps made from Vinyl and Polyethylene are considered to be very hard wearing and are considered the strongest tarps available on the market. As well as being durable, these tarps have numerous other benefits including UV resistance, mildew proof and waterproof. These types of tarps are particularly well suited for covering material on the back of trucks because of the protection they provide from the elements including dirt and grime.

Mesh Tarps

When transported materials need some air circulation, or require no added protection from water or severe UV rays then a mesh tarp is frequently used.
Generally, mesh tarps do not provide any additional protection to a load (as is the case with Vinyl and Polyethylene Tarps), with its main role being to keep the load on the rear of the truck secure.

As a general rule, the load or material on the back of a truck will determine what type of tarp is used for protection.
